Ramadan Kareem
Tonight is the beginning of Ramadan. We extend our warmest wishes to the communities we serve and Muslims all over the world observing the Holy month of Ramadan.
Our love is particularly with those fasting from sunrise to sundown while experiencing untold hardship and trauma. From our brothers and sisters in Gaza, Palestine, Sudan and Congo and in every war and devastation torn land.
For the communities we serve in Northern France fasting and observing Ramadan is hard when on journeys of exile. When the next meal is not guaranteed and much of the days’ energy is spent surviving.
We have been offering extra equipment to displaced people as they prepare for Ramadan. Giving them more resources to cook and prepare meals to share in community. We always have cookware, crockery and utensils available on request but recently we have been bringing more to camp.
We would like to be able to do a few “food for cooking” distributions over the month of Ramadan. Our stocks of food are depleted after several distributions throughout February. If you can, please consider making a small donation to our fundraising page to allow us to purchase food in bulk: rice, chopped tomatoes, beans, lentils, chickpeas and dates of course.
On an increasingly hostile, violent border we remain focused on showing solidarity to people on the move. Wherever they come from, whatever their story, wherever they wish to go.
To carry on we need your help.
