As we now enter the hottest months of the year the population of displaced people in northern France continues to rise steadily.

Our teams of volunteers continue to be on the ground each day providing the usual range of services and support, as well as distributions of essential items.

Over these past weeks we have seen between 10-20 new arrivals each day, most arriving with little more than the clothes they wear and a small backpack of possessions.

Last week finally saw toilet and showering facilities installed at the main site outside the emergency centre in Grande-Synthe.

This victory came as a result of months of hard work from La Cimade, L'Auberge des Migrants, PSM and several other grassroots organisations and individuals.

Following the court decision, the French state is now obliged to provide running water, showers, toilets and legal information to the refugees living in the Dunkirk area.
