Firstly, we would like to wish seasons greetings to all of our wonderful and dedicated donors and supporters. We hope that despite these complicated and difficult times you got to spend these last few days in the presence of people you love.
The camp in Dunkirk has continued to grow over the last couple of weeks, despite regular police operations and the incredibly testing weather and conditions. We have had a steady flow of new arrivals at the camp, particularly from Kurdistan, Afghanistan and Somalia.
Our tireless team have been present everyday as always providing the huge range of services and support that hundreds of people depend on daily. With the weather deteriorating rapidly we have added the provision of hot drinks and snacks to our ever growing list of services. This simple service helps people maintain their energy while they wait for the arrival of the awe inspiring Refugee Community Kitchen.
With such regular police operations and so many new arrivals, our stock of tents and bedding is constantly under immense strain. Thanks to the incredible efforts of Angus, Flip and the incredible team at HertsforRefugees we are still distributing tents from this summers festival salvage. Sadly, this stock will soon come to an end and we will have to purchase bulk amounts of tents once again.
Every pound you donate to MRS goes directly towards these bulk purchases and benefits the hundreds of displaced people forced to live rough in northern France. If you are able to donate please do, even if you are not please share this post to help raise awareness and gather more support.
As you can see from the attached pictures, people are once again being pushed further and further to the outskirts of the city, onto disused railway lines and into the marshes around the edge of the river.
No man, woman or child should be forced to live in these conditions.
Thank you to all of you for your continued support. Without you, the work we do would simply not be possible.
